Legal Researcher
Rex Ryland, Jr. is a former attorney who provides a great deal of the legal research that goes into the preparation of each criminal defense case. He prepares defense motions, researches and writes memoranda of legal issues, and investigates the issues involved in criminal appeals handled by the firm. He employs state-of-the-art computer resources including Westmate and Westlaw. He assists Mr. Golembe in analyzing facts and theories that lead to a strong defense for each client. He supplies additional research as needed throughout the duration of a case, keeping arguments fresh and relevant.
Legal Assistants
Aida Rufin has been the firm's legal assistant for seventeen (17) years. Aida is the person most knowledgeable concerning the court system. She personally opens and organizes each file makes sure all necessary documents are obtained from the court and filed with the court. Aida Rufin has a close working relationship with all the judges' secretaries, courtroom deputies and judicial staff. Her outstanding interpersonal skills assist her in her interaction with criminal court personnel as well as clients and witnesses. Aida Rufin is included in all team meetings becomes familiar with each case and the progress of its preparation. Aida Rufin also keeps track of each attorney's appointments, meetings and court dates so that she can advise as to the progress of their case. Administrative Assistant
Carlos Calderon has been the firm's administrative assistance for over seven (7) years. Carlos is the person that supports the legal team. Carlos, physically, obtains the copies of court documents, arrest reports, depositions, witness statements and other documents necessary to complete the file. Carlos reviews audio recordings and transcripts, both English and Spanish. Whether in pre-trial preparation or in court, Carlos's bilingual skills and ability to manage multiple detailed projects in an accurate and organized manner offers tangible benefits to clients whose defense depends on the evidence that he reviews.
Legal Research Assistant
Maria Jose Granados has been a legal research assistant and law clerk for the firm for the past five (5) years. She graduated from the University of Miami in 2005 majoring in Political Science and International Relations. She is currently a law student and will be obtaining her law degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2009. At the firm, Ms. Granados researches legal issues, attends depositions of witnesses and assists in trial preparation. Ms. Granados is fluent in Spanish, as well as proficient in French. She assists in communicating with our clients and advising them as to the status and possible outcome of their cases. Ms. Granados' great personality and her love and dedication for the law makes her a great asset to our firm.
